[POST SCRITTO PRIMA DELLA MESSA IN ONDA DELLA 6X09]
Come forse avete notato ho iniziato a seguire
#OUAT e dopo aver rivisto ogni stagione almeno due volte, ho buttato giù un paio di pensieri su quella che è la sesta stagione finora per Rumple, Belle e la Rumbelle.
Sono arrivata ad una conclusione: mi manca davvero tanto la buona scrittura delle prime stagioni.
Dato sto vedendo tanto -ma tanto- odio nei confronti di Rumple e non ce la faccio più perché sembra che ormai lui debba essere etichettato come “
The Big Bad Villian”, “
The Beast” o “
The Bad Guy” quando chiunque altro ha avuto la sua possibilità con un arco di redenzione e ora viene esaltato come il grande eroe che tutti devono amare (whe both know who I am talking about).
Quindi cercherò di esporre la mia visione dei fatti e voi potete concordare con me o andarvi a fare una passeggiata sulla tangenziale a giocare a mosca cieca.
Parliamo di Rumplestilskin, parliamo seriamente di lui.
Ha cercato con tutto sé stesso di togliersi l’etichetta di codardo che il padre gli ha lasciato in eredità, era pronto ad andare a combattere in una guerra per dimostrare a tutti che lui era coraggioso. Ha incontrato una veggente che gli ha detto che sua moglie aspettava un figlio e lui ha decido di rompersi un piede per tornare a casa e far crescere suo figlio con un padre, cosa che a lui era stata negata dall’egoismo di Pan. Tornato a casa si è trovato la moglie arrabbiata perché preferiva avere un marito morto in guerra che un marito che aveva messo al primo posto l’amore per il figlio ed etichettato come codardo. È sempre stato un uomo dal cuore d’oro, è rimasto con Milah che continuava a trattarlo male perché voleva che loro figlio crescesse con una famiglia.
Poi Milah l’ha lasciato, ma soprattutto ha abbandonato Baelfire, perché voleva una vita più eccitante di quella che aveva. Milah è scappata via con un pirata, Killian Jones, ed ha avuto la sua vita piena di avventure. Nel frattempo Rumple ha dovuto crescere il figlio da solo. Quando è arrivato il turno di Bae di andare in guerra, Rumple ha cercato in tutti i modi di salvare il suo bambino. È arrivato a diventare l’Oscuro perché era l’unico modo per tenere Bae al sicuro. Non ha cercato il potere perché voleva essere potente (questa ossessione è arrivata dopo), lo ha fatto per proteggere la sua famiglia.
Nella sua mente avere più potere significa avere più mezzi per tenere la sua famiglia al sicuro, perché la sua priorità è sempre stata la sua famiglia.
Ha perso Bae ed è stato il suo più grande rimpianto. Ha passato i secoli successivi a trovare un modo per ricongiungersi con il figlio, ha manipolato generazioni per arrivare al suo obbiettivo e ce l’ha fatta.
Ha cercato di essere migliore per lui, per fargli capire che tutto quello che ha fatto era spinto dall’amore che aveva per suo figlio. Tutta la prima parte della terza stagione dimostra quanto Rumple è disposto a spingersi per salvare la sua famiglia: si è sacrificato in modo che Neal potesse vedere Henry crescere, per non lasciare un altro ragazzo senza padre. È morto sapendo di aver fatto la cosa giusta per la sua famiglia, per suo figlio e per suo nipote.
Ha ritrovato il figlio e poi l’ha perso definitivamente, e questa perdita non è stata per un incidente, è stata frutto di una manipolazione da parte di Zelena che ha imbrogliato Neal in modo che facesse ritornare in vita l’Oscuro. È rimasto intrappolato in una gabbia per mesi sotto il controllo di Zelena, la donna che ucciso suo figlio.
Questa era solo la backstory per fare un attimo di chiarezza a quello che è successo nelle stagioni precedenti quando Rumple veniva scritto decentemente.
Ma passiamo alla sua relazione con Belle.
Lui la ama, profondamente, e sono sicura che Belle lo ami ancora.
Abbiamo visto nella 1x12 quanto lo abbia distrutto sapere che lei era morta (anche se era una bugia detta dalla Evil Queen), il solo pensiero di poterla perdere di nuovo è un qualcosa di insopportabile per lui.
All’inizio della sesta stagione, durante la sequenza del sogno di Belle, Rumple cerca di ricreare il momento in cui lei si è innamorata di lui, ha dovuto ““velocizzare”” le cose perché Morpheus gli aveva dato solo un’ora per riuscire nell’impresa di svegliare Belle. Loro due si sono innamorati lentamente, mesi e mesi di piccole azioni che li hanno portati a capire i sentimenti l’uno per l’altro, Rumple ha dovuto prendere la via più breve perché era l’unico modo. Il loro bacio è stato un TLK perché Rumple stava tornando umano, ma non ha funzionato perché Belle non era l’unica ad essere solo una maledizione del sonno, lo era anche loro figlio. Tale figlio (che doveva essere qualcosa tipo un feto senza manco un cervello sviluppato) dice a Belle di non credere più alle bugie di Rumple e di non lasciarlo distruggere la loro famiglia come aveva distrutto quella precedente.
{La mia teoria è che il finto Morpheus sia stato solo il subconscio di Belle e che si è detta quelle cose da sola, era comunque il Rumbaby, ma non le sue parole}
Non appena si sveglia, Belle dice chiaramente che non vuole Rumple nella sua vita e che non vuole creare una famiglia con lui.
Stiamo parlando dello stesso Rumple che ha letteralmente mosso un intero mondo solo per avere una possibilità di ritrovare Baelfire.
Questa è stata la prima crepa.Belle è incinta, Rumple ha sfidato Ade per salvare loro figlio da un contratto che ha firmato secoli prima e che credeva non potesse essere più un problema.
Belle si è auto-maledetta ed è caduta nel sonno (cosa che gli è stata suggerita da Zelena) e non sa tutto quello che Rumple ha fatto per svegliarla, non sa che ha dovuto usare la sabbia di Morfeo perché il padre di Belle preferiva vedere la figlia addormentata per un secolo che al fianco di un uomo che la ama e che lei ama. Belle non sa tutto questo e ha deciso di allontanarsi da Rumple.
Belle decide di andare a vivere sulla Jelly Roger, la nave di Hook, stessa persona che ha cercato di ucciderla ben due volte in due diverse occasioni.
Questa è stata la seconda crepa: Rumple ha visto sua moglie dare la sua fiducia allo stesso pirata che secoli prima aveva separato la sua famiglia.
Inoltre c’era anche il problema di Hyde e la sua minaccia di far del male a Belle. L’incantesimo fatta alla nave doveva essere una cosa momentanea finchè non risolveva il problema: Hyde non poteva salire sulla nave e non poteva manco rapire Belle dato che lei non poteva lasciare la Jelly Roger. Se Hyde fosse stato realmente il cattivo, questa sarebbe stata un’ottima soluzione. Ma come noi non ci aspettavamo il plot twist dello scambio dei ruoli, manco Rumple (e nessun altro) si era aspettato che il dottor Jeckyl fosse l’assassino in cerca di vendetta e Rumple non ha potuto distruggere l’incantesimo perché era sotto il controllo di Hyde.
Quindi un’azione fatta per proteggere la donna che ama è fallita perché c’è stato il plot twist (
geniale, a mio parere, i didn’t see that comin’).
Nella scena successiva in cui Rumple e Belle si vedono insieme è nel negozio dopo che Zelena è andata a rivelare a Belle i piani di suo marito e dell’inciucio con la Queen.
Gli dice della cesoie e che non permetterà a Rumple di usarle su loro figlio, Rumple non le risponde, io sono sicura che leu tenga le cesoie come piano B, come l’ultima spiaggia, se non riesce a risolvere la situazione le cesoie saranno l’ultima cosa da utilizzare per riuscire ad avere un rapporto con il figlio perché nonostante tutto lui già gli vuole bene.
Belle gli dice che se vuole che suo figlio gli voglia bene, non deve prendersi il suo amore ma esserne degno (e su questo concordo anche io), quando Rumple -con le lacrime agli occhi- le dice che ha paura di fallire {
TRE STAGIONI DI CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT} lei gli risponde che è sempre la stessa storia con lui, che ha paura di fallire e quello è anche peggio di essere 100% cattivo.
Belle: You want your son's love. Don't take it. Be worthy of it.
Rumple: And what if I fail?
Belle: Listen to yourself. That's just you all over, isn't it? Afraid of failing. That's worse than being evil. That's - That's just being too weak to be good.Ripeto: stesso Rumple che ha speso trecento anni della sua vita per ritrovare il figlio solo per perderlo di nuovo a causa della tizia ammuffita. Quindi la sua paura è reale: ha già perso un figlio, ha provato quel dolore a guardarlo negli occhi e vedere odio, e quando finalmente suo figlio è tornato a volergli bene l’ha visto morire nelle sue braccia.

Non so esattamente perché Belle non si ricordi quanto Rumple era distrutto alle fine della seconda stagione, ma a quanto pare gli scrittori gli hanno dato un problema con la memoria a lungo termine.}
Poi Belle è andata a chiedere aiuto a Zelena -ucciso Neal, imprigionato Rumple, minacciato di uccidere il 95% delle persone a Storybrooke- per scappare nella Enchanted Forest e impedire che Rumple possa vedere loro figlio.
Questo è lo script della scena:
Belle: Can we, uh can we hurry a bit? I really want to be safe in the Enchanted Forest before Rumple discovers it's gone.
Rumple: Too late. I knew that street rat wasn't digging around my shop for himself. And I cannot let you take our child away from me. So now, no matter where you go, I'll find you.
Belle: You really are a beast.
Rumple: Call me what you will, but it comes from love - my love for our child and you.
Belle: You - you call this love? You're scared, Rumple. I-I almost won today. And next time, I will run so fast and so far that you will never even set eyes on this child.Il bracciale che mette al polso di Belle è una specie di super GPS in modo che ovunque lei vada, lui sa dove si trova: “no matter where you go, I'll find you”.
Quel bracciale non impedisce a Belle di andarsene da Storybrooke, lei può andare ovunque voglia.
Quel bracciale serve a Rumple per sapere se sua moglie e il figlio che deve ancora nascere staranno bene e se succede qualche cosa lui sa dove trovarli.
È il suo modo di essere sicuro di poter restare nella vita di loro figlio, cosa che Belle (
“I will run so fast and so far that you will never even set eyes on this child.”) sta cercando di impedirgli e questa cosa per me è davvero sbagliata da parte di Belle perché comunque Rumple è il padre di quel bambino e lei dovrebbe sapere quanto un figlio sia importante per lui.
La frase che dice Belle distrugge tre stagioni intere di storyline di Rumple, tutto è iniziato perché lui stava cercando Baelfire, e sembra come se Belle si fosse dimenticata tutto quello che suo marito abbia fatto negli anni precedenti.
E questa è stata la terza crepa.Il problema principale della coppia è la loro incapacità di comunicare decentemente, si tengono cose nascoste fra di loro (l’elenco di Rumple è lunghissimo, ma anche Belle ha mentito su diverse cose) e a volte la cosa che potrebbe risolvere la situazione in meno di dieci minuti è sedersi e parlare con il cuore in mano.
Posso capire che Belle si sia stancata di credere nelle bugie che dice Rumple, ma non capisco come una persona come lei che ha urlato contro la Evil Queen “
I will always fight for him!” abbia deciso di punto in bianco di abbandonare le speranze con Rumple. Questa cosa va contro la vera essenza di Belle e mi fa incazzare.
Rumple è di nuovo l’Oscuro, ma non ha solo il potere di un Oscuro, ha il potere di tutti gli Oscuri mai esistiti e l’Oscurità dentro di lui non è mai stata più potente e tutte le crepe che si stanno creando non fanno altro che farla entrare più in profondità nella sua anima.
Rumple ha bisogno di qualcuno che gli prenda la mano e lo guidi fuori dall’oscurità, qualcosa di simile a quello che è successo quando Emma era Dark Swan, ha avuto un’intera squadra di persone al suo fianco che l’hanno aiutata a combattere l’oscurità. Quello che mi chiedo è perché nessuno si rende conto che Rumple ha bisogno di qualcuno al suo fianco che lo aiuti a tirare fuori quel lato umano che sta piano piano scomparendo.
Hanno sbagliato entrambi per diversi aspetti, ma questi sbagli sono stati creati appositamente per far vedere Rumplestilstkin come il mostro della stagione quando l’unica cosa che lui sta cercando di fare è tenere unita la sua famiglia.
Non è il cattivo della stagione, il main villian è la Evil Queen che -in meno di otto episodi- ha maledetto i Charmings con una maledizione del sonno sfruttando il cuore condiviso (adoro il nuovo twist), improgionato Regina ed Emma nel mondo degli specchi, minacciato diverse volte di voler distruggere Snow e la sua famiglia e ha cercato di portare oscurità nel cuore di Henry. Ma no, è Rumple il BAD GUY della stagione.
Inoltre non mi piace il modo in cui lo stanno dipingendo, anche nel promo della prossima puntata la voce dice chiaramente:
“He is a beast who inflicts pain and revenge. But this time, Rumplestilstking has gone too far”???????????????????
Seriously?
I mean.Stanno facendo di tutto per farci odiare uno dei migliori personaggi di questo show, la colonna portante di OUAT.
No voglio fare congetture su quello che potrebbe essere il prossimo episodio ma voglio fare una semplice domanda: per quale motivo Rumple dovrebbe accelerare la gravidanza di Belle?
Sarebbe più utile sfruttare i nove mesi della gravidanza per riuscire a far tornare Belle al suo fianco, quindi non credo che sia colpa di Rumple.
Concludendo:

I really miss the way they wrote Rumple and Rumbelle in the first seasons
Okay I am reading a lot – like a lot - of hate towards Rumple and I can’t stand it anymore because it seems that by now he must be labels as “
The Big Bad Villian”, “
The Beast” or
“The Bad Guy” when anybody else has had his/her possibility with an arc of redemption and now he/she is exalted as the great hero that all must love (we know who I am talking about).
Then I will try to expose my vision of the facts and you can agree with me or go play red light green light blindfolded in the middle of an highway.
Let’s talk about Rumplestilskin, like seriously.
He tried so hard to take away the label of coward that his father has left him in inheritance, he was ready to go to fight in a war to show everybody that he was brave. Then he met a clairvoyant that told him that his wife is pregnant and he decided to break his foot to return home and to make sure his son grown up with a father, thing that had been denied to him because of the egoism of Peter Pan who preferred being forever young that staying with his son.
Returned home his wife is angry and told him she preferred a husband killed in war that a husband that put to the first place the love for his child and labeled as coward. He has always been a man with a golden heart, he remained with Milah that kept on treating him badly because he wanted that their child grew up with a family.
Then Milah left him, but above all she abandoned Baelfire, because she wanted a life more exciting than the one she had. Milah run away with a pirate, Killian Jones, and she had her life full of adventures. In the meantime Rumple has had to grow up his child alone. When the turn of Bae has arrived to go to war, Rumple has looked for in all the ways to save his boy. He had to become the dark because it was the only way to keep Bea safe and sound. He did not seek for power because he wanted to be powerful (this became an obsession only later), he seeks for it only to protect his family.
In his mind having more power means being able to keep his family, because its priority has always been his family.
He let go Bae and that was been his greatest regret. He has spent the following centuries to find a way to rejoin with his son, he manipulated the time itself to reach his purpose and he made it.
He tried to be best for him, to make him to understand that everything that he has done was full of the love he had for him The whole first part of the third season shows how much Rumple is prepared to lose for saving his family: he sacrificed himself so Neal could see Henry grown, he died so he wouldn’t leave another boy without his father. He died knowing he made the right thing for his family, for his son and for his grandson.
He found his son and then he lost him definitely, and this loss has not been because of an accident, it happen because Neal was manipulated by Zelena, he was tricked by her to bring back to life the Dark One. The Rumple remained trapped in a cage for months under the control of Zelena, the woman that killed his son.
This was only a little bit of backstory to make a quick recap of what happen in the previously seasons when Rumple was written decently.
Let’s talk about his relationship with Belle.
He loves her, deeply, and I am sure that Belle still loves him.
We have seen in the 1x12 how much has destroyed him knowing that she was dead (even if it was a lie said by the Evil Queen), the only thought of losing her again is something unbearable for him.
At the beginning of the sixth season, during the dream sequence, Rumple tries to recreate the moment in which she fallen in love with him, he had to speed up everything because Morpheus had given him only an hour to succeed in waking up Belle. They fallen in love slowly, months and months of small actions that have brought them to understand the feelings the one for the other, Rumple had to take the short cup because it was the only way to succeed in the little amount of time he had. Their kiss was TLK because Rumple was returning human, so the curse was broken, but it didn’t work because Belle was not the only one to be under a sleeping curse, was also it their child. Such child ( that what something not bigger than a fetus without not even a developed brain) tells Belle not to believe in Rumple’s lies anymore and he’s there to warn her: “not let him destroy us, like he did his last family”.

My theory is that the false Morpheus has been Belle’s subconscious and that whoever he said was just Belle’s thoughts, it was the Rumbaby but not the his words however]
As soon as she wakes up, Belle clearly says that doesn’t want Rumple in her life and that she doesn’t want to create a home with him.
We are talking about the same Rumple that has literally moved a whole world to have the possibility to find again Baelfire.
This was the first crack.Belle is pregnant, Rumple has challenged Hades in order to save their child from a contract that he signed centuries before and that he believed it wasn’t a problem anymore.
Belle cursed herself into a sleeping curse (thing that has been suggested by Zelena) and she doesn’t know everything that Rumple has done for waking her up, she doesn’t know that he had to use the Morpheous’ sand because Belle’s father preferred to have her daughter asleep rather than living with the man that loves her and she loves. Belle doesn’t know all this and she decided to walk away from Rumple.
Belle decides to move on the Jelly Roger, Hook’s ship, same man that has tried to kill her twice in different occasions. This was the second crack: Rumple has seen her wife giving her trust to the same pirate that centuries ago separated his family.
There was also Hyde’s issue and his threat to hurt Belle. The spell he made to the ship was planned to be only momentary, until he fixed the problem: Hyde could not go on the ship and it was not able to kidnap Belle since she could not leave the Jelly Roger. If Hyde had really been the bad one, this could have been a good solution. But as no one could imagine the plot twist of the switched role between Mr. Hyde and Dr. Jeckyl, same Rumple (and everybody else) had no idea that the real enemy was doctor Jeckyl, the doctor was the assassin looking for revenge and Rumple was not been able to lift the spell because it was under Hyde’s control.
So an action driven by the love for protecting the woman he loves backfired because there was a plot twist (brilliant, to my opinion, I didn’t see that comin’) and what was made to protect became another means in the hand of the villian.
In the next scene in which Rumple and Belle are together it’s in the shop after Zelena revealed to Belle Rumple’s plans and the affair with the Queen.
She told him she knows about the shears and that it won’t allow Rumple to use them on their child, Rumple doesn’t answer her, but I’m sure that he had the shears as plan B, as the last resource in case he doesn’t succeed in fixing the situation, the shears would be the last thing to use to be sure he will have a relationship with his child because despite everything he already loves him.
Belle tells him that if he wants their child to love him, he must not take it but to be worthy it (and I agree with this), when Rumple - with tears in his eyes - tells her that he is afraid to fail [
THREE SEASON OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENTE] she answer that it’s always the same thing with him, he is afraid to fail and that is worse to be 100% bad.
Belle: You want your son’s love. Don’t take it. Be worthy of it.
Rumple: And what if I fail?
Belle: Listen to yourself. That’s just you all over, isn’t it? Afraid of failing. That’s worse than being evil. That’s - That’s just being too weak to be good.Again for the people in the back: this is the same Rumple that had spent three hundred years of his life finding a way to get to see his son again only to lose him because of the moldy bitch.
Its fear is real: he already lost a son, he felt the heartbreak of looking in his eyes and seeing hate and disappoint, and when Neal finally get to love him again like before the curse, he died in Rumple’s arms.

I don’t exactly know why Belle doesn’t remember how much Rumple was destroyed at the end of season 2, but it looks like the writers have given her some problem with long-term memory.]
Second crack.Then Belle went to Zelena - killed Neal, imprisoned Rumple, threatened of killing 95% of the people to Storybrooke – for helping her to escape in the Enchanted Forest and prevent Rumple to see their child.

That bracelet doesn’t prevent Belle to leave Storybrooke, she can go anywhere she desire.
That bracelet is for Rumple a way to know if his wife and unborn child will be fine and if something happen to them he will get to them and help.
It’s his way to be certain of staying in his child’s life, thing that Balle (
“I will run so fast and so far that you will never even set eyes on this child.”) is traying to awoyd… and this is something really really wrong especially said from Belle, because Rumple is the father and she should know how much he cares about hisson and how much he would do to keep him in his life.
The sentence Belle said destroys three whole seasons of Rumple’s storyline, everything is started because he was looking for Baelfire, and it seems as if Belle had forgotten everything that that her husband has done in the years before.
And this was the third crack.The main problem of couple is their amazing ability of miscommunication, things are held hidden between them (the list of Rumple’s is long, but also Belle has lied on different things) and sometimes the situation could be resolve in less than ten minutes just with sitting and to talking with their hearts on the chest.
I can understand that Belle is tired to believe in Rumplle’s lies, but I don’t understand as a person like her that has yelled to the Evil Queen
“I will always fight for him!” has decided to abandon all her hopes in turning Rumple in a better version of him. This thing goes against the true essence of Belle and piss me off like nothing else.
Rumple is the Dark One again, but he doesn’t have only the power of one Dark One, he has the power of all the Dark Ones that have ever existed and the Darkness inside of him has never been more powerful, all the cracks, created from this situation with Belle, are making the Darkness getting more deep in his soul.
He needs someone who take his hand and guide him out of the Darkness, something similar of what happen when Emma was the Dark Swan, she had an entire squad backing her, supporting her in her fight against the power of the Darkness. My question is why no one realize that Rumple needs someone by his side to help him.
Rumple and Belle made mistaken for different aspects, but these particular mistakes have the purpose of making Rumplestilstkin be seeing as the monster of this season when the only thing that he is trying to do is trying of keeping his family together.
He is not the bad guy of this season, the main villian is the Evil Queen that - in less than eight episodes - had cursed the Charmings with a sleeping curse using the shared heart (I adore the new twist), imprisoned Regina and Emma in the mirror’s world, threatened different times to want to destroy Snow and her family and tried to darkener Henry’s heart. But no, it’s Rumple the BAD GUY of this season.
Besides I don’t like the way in which are painting him since the beginning of season six, in the promo of the next episode the voice clearly says:
“He is a beast who inflicts pain and revenge. But this time, Rumplestilstkin has gone too far”???????????????????
Seriously?
I mean.They are trying everything for make us hate one of the best characters of this show, backbone of OUAT.
I don’t want to make conjectures on what could be the next episode but I want to ask a simple question: why should Rumple accelerate the pregnancy of Belle? For which reason?
It would be more profit to use the nine months of the pregnancy to making up with Belle, therefore I don’t believe that it’s Rumple fault of what happen in the next episode.
